My name is Brie Barber, and I have taught at Walter Douglas for 8 years! When I am not teaching, I thoroughly enjoy any kind of outdoor activity like hiking, skiing, even rock climbing. When I was younger, I moved around from state to state almost every year! All of these moves allowed for me to sign up and participate in many different kinds of extracurricular activities! I have played soccer, basketball, volleyball, golf and tennis, and even tried cheerleading. I very much look forward to coaching basketball this semester!

I am very excited to be your basketball coach! Health and fitness is a passion of mine. Thinking back to my elementary days I remember being overweight and unhealthy, this pattern followed me into middle and high school. Soon, I realized if I wanted to change I had to change my lifestyle. I often made the excuse that I wasn't athletic, or I can't do it because I wasn't strong enough.  I have learned anyone can become healthy; anyone can be fit regardless of their athletic background. I have been following the Insanity and P90X, which are very much like a sport in themselves and I hope to bring this philosophy to the team this year, no matter your experience you can be healthy and active too!
