"The Walter Douglas Parent Teacher Organization is the best way for our school's parents to interact with their child's teachers. We strive to foster those relationships and create a sense of community between our staff and our parents through projects, scholarships, goal-sharing, and open communication." John Mussulman, PTO President

The  Douglas Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has grown over time to form a collaborative relationship in support of our students. This connection is bolstered by a unifying goal to raise funds, make improvements, and support school initiatives deemed appropriate and necessary to the functions of the school. Comprised of PTO officers, parents, administrators, a teacher representative from each grade level, support staff members, and a Spanish translator, the PTO meets monthly to discuss school priorities and initiate fundraising efforts. Our PTO Meetings take place the first Wednesday of every month at 2:30 p.m. via ZOOM. We hope to see you there!

A Note From Our PTO President

Happy (late) Halloween, Bulldogs, and a very Happy (early) Thanksgiving! The Parent Teacher Organization is making some moves this month- some fun things are happening and we want you to know about them. Which is why I'm writing this note! To you! Yes! You, specifically! Check it out:     At last month's meeting, we finalized a revised budget, easing a lot of the stress we would have been under otherwise. Notice I said "a lot" and not "all"- we still have some work to do to complete this year's budget and make sure that we are doing what we can to support our staff and school through this crazy year. Now that we know how much money we need to raise to complete our budget, we are finally going to start fundraising. You may have had the thought at some point this year "Hey I wonder if I'm going to get a cookie dough catalog" and the answer, dear reader, is YES.   Our Cookie Dough Fundraiser starts today, Nov. 2nd and runs through November 16th.  All sales will be online, the PTO will pay for most of the shipping, and the orders will be delivered directly to you.  See the flyer in this newsletter with all ordering information.       An idea that came up at the last meeting is craft kits for your students to do at home one evening in a guided activity over the internet with some of our staff.  We really like the idea and think your kids will too.  Plus it's a fun way for you to meet a teacher or two you might not have otherwise known!  It's a new idea to all of us and we're working out some kinks, but be on the lookout for information regarding a  Virtual Holiday Craft Night on Thursday, December 10th.       There are also some other plans for some restaurant take-out fundraisers I'm working on, but those plans aren't solid yet. Once those times and dates are confirmed I'll let all of you know. As always, we are looking for help beyond going to the meetings and coming up with great ideas like the craft kits. If you want to help, please call/text me at 520-668-6922. Good luck out there friends, stay safe. Be happy, be healthy, and have fun.
