"The Walter Douglas Parent Teacher Organization is the best way for our school's parents to interact with their child's teachers. We strive to foster those relationships and create a sense of community between our staff and our parents through projects, scholarships, goal-sharing, and open communication." John Mussulman, PTO President

The  Douglas Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has grown over time to form a collaborative relationship in support of our students. This connection is bolstered by a unifying goal to raise funds, make improvements, and support school initiatives deemed appropriate and necessary to the functions of the school. Comprised of PTO officers, parents, administrators, a teacher representative from each grade level, support staff members, and a Spanish translator, the PTO meets monthly to discuss school priorities and initiate fundraising efforts. Our PTO Meetings take place the first Wednesday of every month at 2:30 p.m. via ZOOM. We hope to see you there!

A Note From Our PTO President

Hello parents and welcome to February! January was a bit crazy, wasn't it? Seems like 2020 had a little bit more to give. But there's a vaccine that's being rolled out, hopefully we'll be able to get back to whatever normal will be before school starts this fall. Kids will be able to play with each other, teachers can teach in the same room as the students, and parents can go back to work as needed. Good news is on the way, friends, we're getting there.     One thing that I would like to point out, as parents and staff have made some truly heroic efforts to educate and enrich children’s lives over the course of this past year, is that what teachers and staff do is extremely difficult! As parents we all know the challenges of raising happy and healthy  children, but what we sometimes forget is that teachers are our partners in those efforts, and they mean a lot to our kids! I bet if I asked any one of you to name a high school teacher of yours you might stumble. But if I asked about one of your elementary teachers you could name at least three! So I wanted to take a few sentences to acknowledge our teachers and staff. And of course, parents at home managing so much, you're all amazing. Thank you, everyone, you're doing great!     Coming up this month, we will be finalizing our craft nights for the spring, I hope you'll tune in to our Zoom PTO meeting link included here. Right before our meeting, at 2:15 pm, we will have our Title One Spring Review  Meeting. Please use the link below for both meetings.

Also, we will be having a big Panda Express fundraiser, ALL DAY on 2/18 at the new one on Oracle. That's Thursday, ALL DAY. We'll get 50% of purchases from there, as long as you present the flyer! So please, encourage all of your friends and family to have a Panda bowl or whatever there on Thursday 2/18. You know you love the  orange chicken. Everyone does. So go get some, and do a good thing for your kid's school! Here are the links to the flyers for our event:
